Antifrogen® L Concentrate

Antifrogen® L is a light blue coloured, clear liquid that is used as a cooling brine and heat transfer fluid in heat pump systems, in the food and luxury food sector, e.g. in breweries, dairies, ice cream factories, frozen food chains, fish processing plants, etc. The product is nitrite-, amine-, borate-, silicate- and phosphate-free inhibited.

Properties:
  • Basis: 1,2-propylene glycol
  • Plus anti-corrosion additives
  • Minimum application concentration: 25 % by volume (corresponds to a frost resistance of -10 °C)
  • Continuous operating temperature*: approx. -25 to +150 °C

* Taking into account the increased kinematic viscosity even lower application temperatures are possible

Frost protection and application concentration:

Frost resistance depends on the mixing ratio with water. The minimum use concentration of Antifrogen® L is 25 % by volume. The frost resistance of the mixture does not change - assuming a constant Antifrogen® L concentration - even after many years of operation. Homogeneous mixtures of Antifrogen® L and water also do not separate. Frost resistance is reduced if more water is added.

Antifrogen® L must always be diluted with water.

The water used to dilute Antifrogen® L should not contain more than 100 mg/kg (ppm) chloride. The water hardness can vary in a wide range between 0 and 25° dH. This means that drinking water can also be used in addition to demineralised (deionised, distilled) water.

As expected, the good anti-corrosive properties of Antifrogen® L water mixtures decrease with increasing water content. The Antifrogen® L content in a cooling brine or heating fluid must therefore not be less than 25 % by volume. This corresponds to a solution that is frost-proof down to -10 °C. Below this concentration, microorganisms can grow in the brine, which can lead to organic deposits and microbially induced corrosion.
