These are the people – and the research – we want to shine a light on. Together with the German Chemical Society (GDCh), we have presented the Carl ROTH Young Talent Award since 2014, honouring outstanding scientific work that brings together innovation, sustainability and scientific excellence.

The challenges of our time call for new answers. This is exactly where the Carl ROTH Young Talent Award comes in. It honours research that opens up new possibilities in chemistry through bold ideas and forward-looking developments.

What we recognise
The award focuses on research that combines scientific excellence with social responsibility and makes a lasting contribution. Examples include:
- resource-efficient synthesis methods
- innovative applications of chemicals
- sustainable chemical processes
- research with social relevance
- the development of AI processes for chemical analysis methods
The award at a glance
The Carl ROTH Young Talent Award has been presented annually since 2014 in partnership with the German Chemical Society (GDCh).
The award includes:
- €5,000 in prize money
- a €3,000 Carl ROTH voucher for the research group
- a certificate
- presentation of the award at the Spring Symposium of the Young Chemists Forum (JCF)
Who can apply?
The Carl ROTH Young Talent Award is open to early-career researchers in the chemical sciences. Candidates may apply directly or be nominated by others.
Submitted research must meet the criteria set out in the current call for applications. Full details of the conditions of participation are available from the GDCh:

For your application, you will need the following documents:
- a letter of motivation
- a curriculum vitae
- a list of the top 10 publications
- optional: one or more letters of support
