ROTI®BacCheck Legionella for microbiology
The test system uses latex particles coated with specific antibodies against Legionella.
REAG TEST L1 detects Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1.
REAG TEST L2-15 detects Legionella pneumophila serogroups 2 to 15.
REAG TEST LSPP detects 10 commonly occurring Legionella species, including L. micdadei, L. bozemanii, L. dumoffii, L. longbeachae, L. jordanis, L. anisa, and L. feelei.
When the coated latex particles are mixed with a sample containing the corresponding Legionella or their antigens, the antibodies bind to the bacteria. This causes the particles to clump together, forming visible aggregates that can be seen with the naked eye.
- REAG TEST L1: Latex particles coated with antibodies against Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 (blue cap).
- REAG TEST L2-15: Latex particles coated with antibodies against Legionella pneumophila serogroups 2–15 (yellow cap).
- REAG TEST LSPP: Latex particles coated with antibodies against antigens from 10 Legionella species (red cap).
- Positive Control (CONTROL +): Inactivated Legionella antigens (black cap).
- Sample Diluent (SAMPLE DILUENT): Saline solution for diluting samples (white cap).
- 25 slides with 6 test fields each, made of water-repellent cardboard.
- 25 plastic stirring sticks.
*Note: Serogroup 16 of L. pneumophila is now mentioned in the Manual of Clinical Microbiology. Serogroup 16 is expected to cross-react with serogroup 6, so the 2–15 latex reagent should theoretically also agglutinate isolates of serogroup 16.
