Space-saving sample chiller with general-purpose heat treatment bath for various vial types and sizes. Ceramic beads are used instead of ice as a chilling medium. This allows unlimited cooling times and avoids the problem of floating samples in thawing ice as well as contamination by coolants. As a time saving option, the ice box with beads can be pre-incubated in the fridge and simply inserted into the unit as and when required.
