Cookie Policy

Similar to most other websites, our websites use cookies. These help us to constantly improve the user experience visitors to our sites have and to customise our website to their individual requirements. In this text, you can find out what cookies are, which cookies we use and how you can manage and erase them.

WHAT IS A COOKIE?

Cookies are small text files that are sent to your browser by our web server when you visit our web pages and stored on your computer by our web server for future retrieval. We use "session cookies" (temporary cookies) that are stored exclusively for the duration of your visit to one of our web pages. These cookies allow us to identify your computer during a visit to our website, when you move from one of our web pages to another, and to ascertain when your session ends. For example, the cookie "remembers" your settings so that you do not have to "re-enter" them every time you visit the website. In addition, both we and our external service providers use cookies primarily for analytical purposes to enable us to analyse user behaviour so that we can constantly improve our websites. Cookies are either used directly by our websites (known as "first-party cookies") or by other websites whose content appears on our website (known as "third-party cookies").

WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES ARE THERE?

Cookies fulfil different functions and have different purposes. Accordingly, cookies are divided roughly into four categories:

Necessary cookies

Necessary cookies ensure functions that you require in order to use our web pages as intended. These cookies are used exclusively by us and are therefore first-party cookies. This means that all information that is saved in the cookies is relayed back to our website. For example, the cookie can remember that you have logged in to your user account and always remain logged in when accessing various sub-pages of our websites. This prevents you from having to re-enter your login details every time you call up a new page.

Performance cookies

Performance cookies collect information about the way a website is used, e.g. which pages a visitor calls up most frequently or whether the visitor receives error messages. They are used solely to improve the website, thereby enhancing user experience. Performance cookies do not save any information that allows the identity of the user to be tracked – the site visitor remains anonymous.

Functional cookies

Functional cookies enable a website to save information (e.g. username, language selection, font size) that has already been input. This allows more customised, improved functions to be made available to the visitor. These cookies only collect anonymised information.

Marketing cookies

Marketing cookies are used to determine the visitor's interests and to display advertisements that match their personal requirements. These cookies come from external advertising partners. This means that they are third-party cookies. They are also used to measure the effectiveness of advertisements. For this purpose, the information that they collect may be shared with third parties, e.g. advertisers. The user behaviour is analysed on the basis of Article 6(1f) GDPR. The advertiser has a legitimate interest in the anonymised analysis of the user behaviour in order to optimise both their website and their advertising material.
